WRITER
Leah Fairchild is interested in writing books that evoke necessary realities that children find themselves
in through a thoughtful and playful tone.
Leah is currently writing a middle grade novel grounded in magical realism with an overarching theme of social justice.
In addition to a completed children's book, she is writing several picture books that have wriggled their way to her while
teaching children and running a library.
She is constantly lassoing stories she wished existed to
ultimately become her own.
ABOUT
Leah was born in a log cabin, grew up in a magical forest and was raised by a teacher who became a writer. Stories are constantly pulling for Leah's attention which she gives into eventually. As an elementary school librarian, she wrestles books back onto bookshelves, teaches library, literary and technology studies, and best of all, plays matchmaker with books and readers alike. Leah lives in a Florida cottage with a clowder of cats and a misplaced New Englander.
